Household Hazardous and Electronic Waste
Los Angeles County and Sanitation Districts sponsor weekly Household Hazardous and Electronic Waste disposal events around Los Angeles County. These one-day collection events provide all Los Angeles County residents a legal and cost-free way to dispose of unwanted household chemicals that cannot be disposed of in the regular trash, no appointment needed. Eligible items that can be disposed of at an HHW event include:
- Motor oil, oil filters, brake fluid
- Used antifreeze
- Paint, paint thinner, turpentine
- Cleaners with acid or lye
- Pesticides or herbicides
- Household batteries or car batteries
- Pool chemicals
- CRTs, old TVs, misc. electronics
- Mercury thermometers or thermostats
- Fluorescent light bulbs
- Used needles or sharps (In a Sharps container or sturdy box labeled "SHARPS")
- Unwanted or expired prescriptions

Permanent HHW Collection Centers
S.A.F.E. Centers (Solvents/Automotive/Flammables/Electronics) are permanent collection sites that are open every weekend for residents to drop off their HHW, e-waste, and used oil. For a list of permanent collection facilities near you, click here.
Prescription Medication Dropoff
