Who do I call to obtain a building inspection?
Call 626-300-0712 to request an inspection. Please be prepared to leave your name, phone number, permit number, property address, the type of inspection you are requesting, and the day you would like the inspection. Please call at least 24 hours in advance of your preferred inspection day.
How do I find out how much I can build on my property?
You can calculate your maximum livable area and ground coverage allowances by filling out a Plan Information Sheet provided you have your actual lot size and know the zoning of your property (Area District). How can I apply for a variance or conditional use permit?
Variances and Conditional Use Permits (CUPs) are applications that are reviewed by the Planning Commission. An application may be filed by submitting a Planning Commission Hearing form, application fee, and one set of plans. Variances and CUPs require strict findings of approval to be met. Please seek the advice of a Planner before considering such an application.
What items require Design Review Committee (DRC) approval?
Please consult with a planner as to whether your specific project will require DRC approval. The following is a list of items that are typically reviewed by the DRC:
- All new homes, certain one-story additions, and all two-story additions
- Certain architectural modifications visible from public view
- Front yard walls, gates, and fences
- Certain accessory structures visible from public view
Do I need DRC approval to re-roof my house?
DRC approval is needed if you choose a replacement material that is not on the City’s Pre-Approved Roof Material List. The list can be found in the Forms and Applications section of the Planning and Building Department page.
Do I need DRC approval to install new windows?
You do not need DRC approval if you replace your windows with a product found on the City's Pre-Approved Window Material List. The list can be found in the Forms and Applications section of the Planning and Building Department page. A building permit is required for all window replacements.
